Jess Smee is a Berlin-based freelance journalist, writing about travel, politics and culture for Spiegel Online International and newspapers including The Guardian and The Independent. Before moving to Berlin in 2004, she spent five years as a reporter for Reuters, working in newsrooms in London, Madrid and Frankfurt.
